About us

Let's hope that dreaming can change the world!

The Peruchet Theatre was founded in 1929 by Carlo Speder (1899-1985), its first director until 1958. The name Peruchet originally comes from one of the founder's daughters: "the theatre of my darling father". In 1931, the theatre moved to rue Joseph Lebeau in downtown Brussels. In 1938, the theatre moved to another mansion on the Chaussée de Charleroi and acquired an International Museum, the first dedicated to puppetry in Belgium. In 1940, the theatre created a puppet academy to train puppeteers. The foundations are laid.
