About us

  A place for emerging artists

The Élysée, a theatre at the Guillotière, has been working for nearly 30 years to highlight young creation and theatrical experimentation in Lyon and a little further afield.

Jacques Fayard founded the theatre in 1993. The programme is provided by the association "Si Tu... " as part of an agreement with the City of Lyon, the DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. It is chaired by Julien Nini and, since 2024, co-directed by Gabriel Laval Esparel and Nicolas Ligeon.

At the Élysée, the watchwords are the support of young directors, as well as the programming of more experienced artists who find at the Élysée a freedom to create and an opportunity to present new theatrical forms. Similarly, maintaining a strong link with theatre students and welcoming their end-of-studies work remains essential. Finally, it is important to us to develop cooperation with cultural structures in Lyon and the region on multidisciplinary events, mixing genres and audiences and allowing us to open up to other horizons.

For all the missions that the theatre fulfills, the City of Lyon, the DRAC and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region kept the Élysée within the Scènes Découvertes scheme in the spring of 2022, when the call for projects was renewed. The theatre has been part of it since its establishment in 2001.
