the orgemont mill in the impressionist landscape in the second half of the 19th century, the pleasant lifestyle of argenteuil attracted parisians who wanted to get "into the countryside" a few kilometers from their homes. the natural landscapes, the banks of the seine, the heritage and the new riverside cafes make the city a dynamic, attractive and appealing place. at that time, a microcosm of impressionist artists developed in and around paris, including monet, manet, bazille, renoir, millet, bracquemond, sisley, caillebotte, daubigny, and pissarro. it was only natural that argenteuil attracted and inspired impressionist artists drawn to nature, light, and everyday life. claude monet lived there for 7 years.
