Tim Mahon’s love for watches began at the age of eight when his grandfather, Cyril Mahoney, gifted him an old Timex. That moment sparked a lifelong fascination with wristwatches that followed him through his childhood on Cleveland’s west side, his years at St. Ignatius High School, and later at The Ohio State University. Though his degree was in a field unrelated to retail, Tim never stopped trading watches—starting at just 12 years old and accelerating with the rise of eBay and online communities. As his experience and collection grew, so did his vision. In 2017, he launched Tim’s Timepieces, a part-time venture born of pure passion. By 2021, it evolved into Great Lakes Watch Company—a name that reflects not just where he’s from, but the depth of his commitment to clients across the country. Today, Tim leads a small but dedicated team who share his enthusiasm for horology, craftsmanship, and outstanding customer service. He spends most of his day sourcing unique pieces, consulting with clients, and helping people find their grail watches—all while delivering personal service you won’t find at a big-box retailer.
