Maeve started freelancing over 15 years ago working at a hair extensions salon in Ponsonby to working full time focusing on extensions. The passion for hair has grown over the years. Her expertise and professionalism in her chosen craft has made her one of the most reputable hair extension specialists in the business. She takes pride in all of her work and works to the clients vision to absolute perfection. She expects nothing but the best for her clientele and this philosophy has extended to the business incorporating full hairdressing services to enable clients to experience a one stop shop for hair.
“My journey with hair extensions began from personal experience. I naturally have thin hair around the crown area, and as I got older and became a mother, my hair thinning became even more noticeable. Alongside the many factors that can contribute to hair loss, I also struggled with anaemia, which made the issue even more challenging. It felt like trying to keep afloat while dealing with multiple leaks at once — I needed all the help I could get.
While I focused on improving my hair health through iron infusions, a healthy diet, quality haircare products, and supplements, I found that hair extensions gave me something immediate: confidence. They helped me feel like myself again. That boost in confidence reduced my stress and brought me joy, which I truly believe positively impacted my overall wellbeing and hair journey. Over time, I noticed less shedding and healthier hair habits.
As the years went on, perimenopause also began to affect my hair, and in 2024 I underwent a hair transplant procedure to restore my uneven hairline, which had developed into permanent thinning before I fully understood the importance of long-term hair care. If I could go back and give my younger self advice, it would be to start prioritising hair health much earlier — it’s never too early to begin looking after your hair.
This personal journey is what inspired my passion for hair extensions and hair health education. I made it my mission to never stop learning — not only about extensions, but about hair health as a whole. I want to educate both women and men on the importance of caring for their hair, using the right products, seeking professional guidance, and finding solutions before stress and hair loss begin affecting confidence and wellbeing.
The most rewarding part of my work is witnessing the transformation in my clients. It’s not just about the external change — it’s about seeing their confidence return from within. I’ve worked with many clients experiencing alopecia, menopause-related thinning, and naturally fine hair, and being part of their transformation journey is incredibly fulfilling.
There is something truly magical about seeing a client light up with confidence almost instantly after their transformation. That feeling is what continues to inspire me every day.
