in its beginnings, casa alberto was a simple tavern that served wines accompanied by hard-boiled eggs, dried cod, etc. currently, casa alberto is an enthusiastic defender of madrid's rich and healthy gastronomy, but adding a touch of avant-garde. casa alberto is a century-old tavern, brimming with literary, theatrical, and bullfighting history, where you can savor excellent traditional madrid cuisine. it was founded in 1827, as indicated on the plaque placed by the madrid city council on the floor at the entrance. the current building dates from that time, constructed on the site of an earlier one from the mid-16th century, which was once the home of miguel de cervantes.
